Terms and Conditions of CTU services

Welcome to the services offered by CTU, the Technology Centre of the University of Milan (hereinafter, “CTU services”).

This is your first access to CTU services: to continue, you must accept the Terms and Conditions and the Privacy Policy.

The Terms and Conditions described herein are diversified according to the types of services offered by CTU.

By accepting these Conditions upon your first access to one of the CTU services, you are automatically allowed to access all CTU services without limitations.Please note that the password used to access CTU services is strictly personal and cannot be communicated to third parties for any reason. Each User shall take all the necessary measures to keep his/her password secret.
	
Ariel portal and Learning management System (LMS)

CTU service users (hereinafter, “Users”) must comply with the conditions described below when accessing the following services:
  • Ariel portal
  • LMS [Ariel, Ariel.net and Moodle]
  1. The Portal and the course websites included in it, as well as the online learning environments of the courses delivered through the above-mentioned LMS, may be used for educational purposes only. You are not allowed to use or access these services for lucrative, advertising, commercial or leisure purposes, or for any purpose other than participation in educational activities.
  2. Online teaching resources shall be used for personal study exclusively, without violating the authors’ intellectual property rights. Total or partial reproduction and dissemination of such resources are allowed only upon prior written approval of the University of Milan. Any violation will be reported to the competent authorities and transgressors belonging to the University community may be subject to disciplinary sanctions.
  3. Each User shall keep an appropriate and correct behaviour on the Portal – and the websites included in it – as well as in the online learning environments of the courses delivered through the above-mentioned LMS. Particularly, the User shall not: (i) take actions that infringe any law or regulation, or harm third parties’ personal and property rights; (ii) use expressions that may be improper or insulting against natural or legal persons; (iii) publish erotic or improper material that may be offensive to public decency, or in any case irrelevant to the teaching contents of the University of Milan (please note that these examples are not exhaustive). The University of Milan, at its sole discretion, may censor any violation of such rules of conduct by deleting messages, information or any kind of improper material sent or published by Users. Users who reiterate such violations or persist in wrong behaviours may be reported to the competent authorities.
  4. Users of the Portal, of the websites included in it, and of the online learning environments of the courses delivered through the above-mentioned LMS agree that the contents of synchronous and non-synchronous messages they sent to communication and discussion areas may be used by CTU and/or authors and/or contributors involved in the creation of the Portal and of the above-mentioned website. Such contents may be used in any way or form (included but not limited to excerpts, paraphrases, translations), for any purpose (included but not limited to education and research) and in any sector, even the commercial one (for example, but not limited to, in papers, collections, essays, for publication online and through other distribution channels). Each User agrees that such contents may be published anonymously.
  5. The University of Milan does not guarantee that the contents currently published, or which will be published in the future, on the above-mentioned portal and in the online learning environments of the courses delivered through the above-mentioned LMS, are complete and accurate. Moreover, teaching resources published on the websites of each course are subject to the corresponding instructors’ evaluation and responsibility, in compliance with the notions of autonomy and independence of teachers. The University neither guarantees nor is responsible for contents that are not managed directly by CTU, or for contents of third parties’ websites, which may be mentioned or made accessible through the Ariel portal and the LMS Ariel, Ariel.net and Moodle.
MirrorEsami and Survey apps for computerised exams and online surveys CTU service users (hereinafter, “Users”) must comply with the conditions described below when accessing the following services:

  • Online surveys
Users of CTU services “computerised exams and online surveys” agree that any type of content they provided while filling out the survey or attending exams may be used by CTU and/or authors and /or contributors of such services. Such contents may be used in any way or form (included but not limited to excerpts, paraphrases, translations), for any purpose (included but not limited to education and research) and in any sector, even the commercial one (for example, but not limited to, in papers, collections, essays, for publication online and through other distribution channels). Each User agrees that such contents may be published anonymously.
Privacy Policy
	
Pursuant to Art. 13 of Regulation (EU) 216/679 of the European Parliament and of the Council on the protection of natural persons with regard to the processing of personal data and on the free movement of such data, and repealing directive 95/46/EC (General Data Protection Regulation or GDPR) , we inform anyone who registers for or otherwise use CTU online services (hereinafter, “Users”) that all data submitted upon registration or in the frame of connections and communications in such context will be processed electronically only for educational, scientific and administrative purposes relating to the management of such services. The data controller is the University of Milan, established in via Festa del Perdono no. 7 – 20122 Milan (email: tuteladati@unimi.it). Communication of personal data is mandatory for the use of the Ariel platform; those who fail to communicate personal data will not be able to access the platform.

The legal basis for data processing is the performance of the contract related to the fruition of the online resources available on the Ariel platform. Data will be stored only as long as necessary for the above-mentioned purposes.

The aforementioned data may be communicated by the data controller and/or processor to authorised parties for the purposes of processing operations, including data collection, registration, storage and consultation, as well as processed by such authorised parties for such purposes. Data will not be communicated or disclosed to other third parties, unless required by law.

The data controller is the University of Milan. Data subjects can lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority and exercise their right to request from the data controller access to, and rectification or erasure of personal data, restriction of processing concerning them, or to object to processing, as well as the right to data portability. To do so, data subjects shall contact the Data Protection Officer, via Festa del Perdono, 7 – 20122 Milan – email: dpo@unimi.it.
